There is a point where cardboard stops being easy. Single-wall board goes through almost anything. Double-wall starts to slow machines down. Triple-wall, or board that has been compressed in a stack, will jam a unit that looked perfectly capable on paper.


    The P80 exists for that material. Its headline number is thickness: 20mm. That is the highest in Aircosan's 550mm-width range, above the P50 and P50-3 at 15mm and the P50-X at 12mm. Cutting width is 550mm. Speed is adjustable from 0 to 15 metres per minute. Power is 110V, 220V, or 380V at 2200W. The unit weighs around 205kg and measures roughly 767 x 590 x 971mm. Suitable material is listed as 3 to 7 layers, which is a broader range than the desktop models and the mid-range industrial units.


    Why thickness matters more than people expect: most buyers compare cutting width, because that determines whether a sheet fits. Thickness determines whether the machine keeps running. A unit that jams twice a shift costs more in lost time than the price difference between models. Thick board is common in furniture packaging, industrial component shipping, building materials, and anywhere a supplier is protecting something heavy. If that describes your incoming cardboard, the P80 is the model that will not need the material cut down first.


    Where it sits in the range is straightforward. The P50 series handles 15mm at up to 18 metres per minute. The P80 handles 20mm at up to 15 metres per minute. If your material is within 15mm, the P50 series is faster. If your material regularly exceeds 15mm, the P80 is the one that keeps going. That is the entire trade-off, and it is worth working out which side of it you are on before ordering.


    Operational notes worth knowing. At roughly 205kg, the P80 needs a solid floor and a planned position rather than a spot chosen on delivery day. It supports single-phase and three-phase power, which gives more installation flexibility than the wide-format models. Blade condition matters more with thick board, so checking blades on a regular schedule is part of running it properly rather than an optional extra.


    Output is mesh, produced on demand at line speed. It goes into voids, around edges, and between stacked items, and it is made at the pace of the line rather than stockpiled in advance. The P80 is the answer for operations whose cardboard is thicker than standard, and who would rather process it than prepare it.
