Most packaging operations do not ship one type of product. They ship whatever comes through the door that day. Some of it needs cushioning. Some of it just needs separating. Trying to cover both with one machine usually means compromising on one.
The P50-X is Aircosan's answer to that problem. It produces mesh and strips from the same unit, with the output type selected by the operator rather than fixed at the factory. Cutting width is 550mm. Maximum cardboard thickness is 12mm. Speed is adjustable from 0 to 15 metres per minute. Power is 110V, 220V, or 380V at 2200W. The unit weighs around 212kg and measures roughly 740 x 554 x 1030mm. It sits in the heavy-duty range alongside the P50, P50-3, and P80, but occupies a different role.
What that means in practice depends on the day. Mesh output covers fragile items, irregular shapes, and anything that needs impact absorption. Strip output covers wrapping, separating products in the same box, and lining. A station handling both types of packaging no longer needs two machines side by side, which frees floor space and removes a second maintenance schedule. For operations where the mix changes through the week, that flexibility is the reason to choose this model over a dedicated unit.
The trade-offs are worth stating plainly. Maximum thickness is 12mm, which is lower than the P50 and P50-3 at 15mm and the P80 at 20mm. If your incoming board is consistently heavy double or triple-wall, the P50-X may not be the right starting point. Speed tops out at 15 metres per minute rather than the 18 available on the P50 series. And because the output format changes, operators need to understand which setting suits which job, which takes a little training rather than none.
For operations that only ever need one output type, a dedicated machine is simpler and slightly cheaper. For operations where packaging content varies, the compromise on thickness and top speed is usually worth it, because the alternative is buying two machines and finding space for both.
