Courier outlets sit at the end of the logistics chain, handling walk-in customers who need to pack and ship items on the spot. A customer arrives with a ceramic vase, a laptop, a framed photo, or a box of homemade cookies, and expects the outlet to wrap it properly before it goes into the network. This is a daily reality for thousands of small courier shops, and it creates a packaging problem that most equipment suppliers overlook.

The typical solution is a stack of plastic bubble wrap behind the counter. It works, but it comes with baggage. Bubble wrap takes up counter and shelf space. It runs out at the worst possible moment. And customers increasingly comment on the waste-some even ask for a different option, which the outlet cannot provide.

The Aircosan YA10C is built for exactly this setting. It is a 35cm-wide paper bubble machine with an automatic cutter, and the entire unit is roughly the size of a small printer. It sits behind the counter, plugs into a standard outlet, and produces kraft paper cushioning on demand. For a courier outlet, that changes the daily routine in a few specific ways.

First, no pre-stocking. You keep a roll of specialty kraft paper instead of bags of bubble wrap. One roll lasts far longer than an equivalent volume of plastic, and it takes up a fraction of the shelf space. Outlets with limited counter area notice this immediately.

Second, no guessing how much to use. With bubble wrap, staff tend to over-wrap because it is easier than measuring. With the YA10C, you set the piece length on the touchscreen and the machine produces exactly that. A customer shipping a small mug gets a small piece. A customer shipping a large vase gets a larger one. Material waste drops, and so does the cost per transaction.

Third, the machine handles the pressure adjustment automatically. Specialty kraft paper comes in different weights, and the machine reads the actual thickness and adjusts the bubble-forming pressure to match. Common 70 gsm and 80 gsm papers work without any manual tuning. For an outlet where staff turnover is high and nobody wants to read a manual, that matters.

The paper itself is worth a note. These machines use specialty kraft paper, not the ordinary kraft paper a courier outlet might already have on hand. Ordinary paper does not hold a stable bubble pattern. Aircosan machines accept single-layer specialty paper in the 70 to 140 gsm range, and the finished cushioning is made entirely of paper-fully recyclable and compatible with normal paper recycling streams.

For outlets that also handle business accounts-small e-commerce sellers dropping off daily shipments-the YA10C becomes more valuable. Instead of selling customers plastic void fill at a markup, the outlet can offer paper cushioning as a service. It is a small revenue line, but it also positions the outlet as a modern, compliant option at a time when the EU's PPWR, California's SB 54, and the UK's pEPR scheme are pushing the entire industry away from single-use plastic.

Aircosan manufactures these machines in our own facility, which means spare parts and replacement rollers come from the people who built the unit. For a small outlet that cannot afford downtime, that matters more than a spec sheet.

The YA10C is not a machine that will transform a courier outlet's business. It is a machine that removes a daily annoyance-running out of bubble wrap, wasting material, or telling a customer you do not have a plastic-free option. For a counter with limited space and a queue of people waiting, removing that annoyance is worth something.
