Operations that run two shifts face a small but persistent problem: equipment set up by one team gets inherited by another. If the machine depends on programmed settings, the second shift either uses what the first shift left behind or spends time reconfiguring it. Both outcomes cost something.

The Aircosan YD20C is a 45cm-wide paper bubble machine with a built-in manual knife, and it sidesteps that problem entirely. There is nothing to program and nothing to reset between shifts. The machine produces cushioning when paper is fed and stops when the operator stops feeding it.

That simplicity is not a limitation in a multi-shift setting. It means the second shift inherits the same machine the first shift used, with no configuration drift and no handover notes. Whoever arrives next simply loads paper and starts.

The manual knife fits this pattern as well. Operators pull the paper to the length they need and cut. There are no stored settings that one person can change and another cannot find. In facilities where shifts rotate and staff move between stations, that removes a common source of friction.

The 45cm width covers most standard cartons. It is wide enough for typical e-commerce products without producing a sheet so large that it has to be trimmed for smaller orders. For larger goods, wider units exist, and we build up to 80cm at our factory.

Paper handling is consistent across shifts. The YD20C accepts single-layer specialty kraft paper in the 70 to 140 gsm range and adjusts forming pressure automatically based on actual paper thickness. If the first shift finishes a roll and the second shift opens a new one from a different batch, the machine adapts without retuning.

One technical detail explains why this holds up over long use: there is no inflation, no heating, no sealing, and no adhesive. The bubble structure is formed by mechanical embossing rollers. That means fewer wear parts and less to go wrong between shifts, and the unit runs on a standard 200W outlet with no compressor or special installation.

Aircosan manufactures these machines in our own facility. Spare rollers and blades come from the people who built the unit, and we can customize the embossing pattern depending on what is being packed.

The measurable outcome across two shifts is not higher output per machine. It is fewer interruptions caused by handover.
